Meaning of a Pink Engagement Ring

The color pink has always been associated with love and romance, so it’s a perfect choice for an engagement ring. You can always choose a ring just because you like how it looks. But if you’re interested in symbolic meanings, some pink stones have certain metaphysical qualities.

  • Pink Diamond: true love, good fortune and creativity.

  • Pink Sapphire: love, compassion and understanding.

  • Pink Morganite: unconditional love, beauty and kindness.

  • Pink Tourmaline: connection, joy and happiness.

  • Pink Opals: romance, passion and positive energy.

  • Pink Topaz: love, loyalty and good luck.

Are Pink Diamond Engagement Rings Expensive?

The price of a diamond depends on the size, color, cut and clarity of the stone. Clear diamonds are the most common and it’s easy to find them in a range of prices. Pink diamonds are a lot more rare - and more expensive.

According to Only Natural Diamonds, most of the worlds pink diamonds were found in a remote part of Australia. The only mine closed in 2020 because they could no longer find enough pink diamonds, making the stones even more rare.

Natural Pink Diamond Engagement Rings

Blake Lively’s famous engagement ring has a natural pink diamond center stone. It’s 7 carats and estimated to cost 2 million dollars.

If your budget isn’t quite that big, you can find engagement rings with smaller stones. As well as fewer carats, smaller pink diamonds may also have a lower clarity grade or less intense color.

Lower priced pink diamonds can be a good choice for an engagement ring. Diamonds are the most durable stone and you can find gorgeous rings that will last a lifetime.

Rings With Lab Grown Pink Diamonds

If you’re not picky about having a natural diamond, you can find beautiful pink lab grown diamonds. Lab grown diamonds are the exact same makeup as a natural diamond, but they can be less expensive.

Depending on how much you want to spend, lab grown pink diamonds may still be at the top end of your price range. You can find inexpensive, sterling silver rings at the low end. Or you can find more expensive rings that are made with white gold, yellow gold or platinum. These lab grown, pink diamond engagement rings from Etsy start at $200 and go all the way up to $14k.

Pink Stone Engagement Rings

If you don’t have the budget for a pink diamond, another option is to choose a different type of gem as your center stone. Many engagement rings feature a pink gemstone with clear diamonds as accent stones. By choosing a different stone, can find a beautiful and durable engagement ring that fits your budget.

Some popular choices for an affordable center stone are pink sapphire or pink morganite. For even less expensive stones, you can look at pink tourmaline, pink opal or pink topaz.

Pink Sapphire Rings

If you’re looking for a natural stone with clear and vivid color, pink sapphire is a great choice. Natural sapphires are graded on three qualities: the hue, the tone and the saturation of the color.

Pink Morganite Engagement Rings

Morganite comes in a variety of shades, including peach, pale pink and rose. Like most gemstones, morganite is graded on the four C’s: cut, color, carat and clarity.

If you’re on a budget, you can find a high quality stone that’s less expensive than a high quality diamond. In general, morganite costs one tenth the price of a similar diamond.

Inexpensive Pink Gemstones

If you’re on a tight budget, lots of couples buy a less expensive engagement ring with a plan to upgrade it in the next few years. If you’re happy with a less expensive gemstone, you can find pretty rings with pink tourmaline, opal or topaz.

Pink Tourmaline Engagement Ring

Tourmaline comes in many shades, including pale pink to deep rose red. Prices depend on the quality of the stone, but you can find engagement rings in every price range. These Etsy finds range from $150 to $750:

Pink Engagement Rings With Opal

In general, opals are not as durable as other gemstones. If you’re going to wear your engagement ring every day, you might consider a different type of stone. But if you’ll only wear on special occasions, or if you’re planning to upgrade in a few years, opal is a beautiful choice for an engagement ring.

Pink Topaz Engagement Rings

If you’re looking for a ring with a durable stone, consider buying a pink topaz. The gemstones can be lab grown or natural and they come in a rainbow of colors. The cost of the stone depends on the size and quality. You can find lots of inexpensive engagement rings with pink topaz. These rings from Etsy range from $100 to $300:

Popular Metals For a Pink Engagement Ring

Platinum

Platinum is the deluxe choice for a wedding or engagement ring. It can handle daily wear without scratching. It stays shiny and the color won’t fade or tarnish over time. Of course, this comes with a price tag. Platinum is the most expensive choice for wedding jewelry. If you like the look, but not the cost, consider white gold instead.

White Gold

White gold is actually yellow gold with another metal added to it. The second metal is usually palladium, nickel or silver, to give it a shiny white color. Adding the second metal also makes white gold very durable and perfect for every day wear. Most white gold jewelry also has a plating of rhodium for extra sparkle.

Rose Gold

Rose gold is a very popular choice for pink engagement rings. The warm color comes from mixing yellow gold with copper. When you’re choosing gold, higher carats means higher quality.

However, higher quality also means the gold is softer. For everyday wear, a lower quality gold is actually a better choice. In rose gold 10, 12 or 14K are all good quality that are also durable enough to wear every day.

Yellow Gold

Yellow gold is a classic choice for engagement rings and wedding bands. When you’re looking at the price, 24K is the most expensive. It has a beautiful luster and shine. It’s also the softest gold.

If you’d like a lower priced and more durable ring, you can look at 14, 12 or 10K gold. Different karats of gold will be different shades. If you choose your stone first, it’ll be easier decide which type of gold will look the best with it.

Silver or Sterling Silver

Silver is a natural metal that has a beautiful shine and color. But it’s very soft and won’t hold up to everyday wear. If you’d like a silver engagement ring, you can look at sterling silver instead.

Sterling silver is an alloy. That means it’s natural silver mixed with another metal, to make it stronger and more durable. If you’re looking for an inexpensive ring, sterling silver is a great choice. Sterling silver jewelry will be stamped with the number 925.
