What is Bridal Jeopardy?

Bridal Jeopardy is the same as the tv game show. Players choose a clue from the game board, then give their answer in the form of a question. Bridal Jeopardy is played the same way, but with trivia that’s personalized for your event.

The game board is set up with 5 or 6 categories. Each category has 5 clues. The easiest clues are worth $100. The difficulty and value go up with every clue on the board. Once all the clues are completed, the team with the most cash wins.

Bridal Jeopardy Questions

If you’re having trouble coming up with questions, here’s a list to help you get started. You can personalize the questions with the couple’s names, then show the bride your question and answer list. She can make sure all the answers are correct.

When you’re making your list, remember to write your clues as the answer. The player has to respond in the form of a question. For example, if the clue is “The bride’s first job title” the correct answer will be “What is a cashier?”

How Do You Set Up a Bridal Jeopardy Game?

a bridal jeopardy board with numbers and flowers on it standing up

You’ll need to plan ahead a bit, to make sure you have everything you need for your Bridal Jeopardy Game:

  • Choose your categories.

  • Write your clues and bridal Jeopardy questions.

  • Add one or two Double Jeopardy questions.

  • Create your bridal Jeopardy game board.

  • Decide how you’ll keep score.

  • Decide how players will buzz in.

Choose Your Categories

Most bridal Jeopardy games use 5 categories. You can adjust the categories for the size of your group and the amount of time you have. If you’ve got lots of time or a bigger group, you can add more categories. If your group is smaller or you’ve got less time, you can shorten the game by using only 3 categories.

The main categories are usually about the bride, the groom and their relationship. You can round out the game with categories about romance, traditions or other famous couples.

Ideas for Bridal Jeopardy Categories

  • The Bride

  • The Groom

  • The Couple

  • The Wedding

  • The Couple’s Pets

  • Love Songs

  • Famous Couples

  • Romantic Movies

  • Wedding Traditions

Write Your Clues

You’ll need 5 clues for each category. They should get more difficult as the value goes up. The clues will be worth $100, $200, $300, $400 and $500 each.

The game host should have a master list of the clues and the correct answers. Remember that the answer should be in the form of a question when you’re writing the master list.

Add One or Two Double Jeopardy Questions

In the TV game show, there’s always one or two Double Jeopardy questions. If you want to do Double Jeopardy for your bridal shower game, plan ahead. Decide which clues will be your Double Jeopardy questions. Use a different colored card for those questions and double the amount of cash for the winning answer.

Create Your Bridal Jeopardy Game Board

There’s a few different ways to make your board, depending on how crafty you want to be. You can download and print a template that has your categories and the dollar value. The host will have a list of the clues and the correct answers. They’ll read them out loud for the group, as each clue is chosen.

If you want to do more DIY, you can get some poster board and print out all the different pieces. Then assemble them into a finished Jeopardy game.

If you don’t have a printer, you can buy a set of categories and Bridal Jeopardy question cards on Etsy. The seller will usually personalize and ship them to you. Once they arrive, all you’ll need to do is glue your pieces to a poster board.

Decide How You’ll Keep Score

If your Jeopardy board is a printout, with the host reading the clues, they can simply write the name of the team with the right answer into the clue box. At the end of the game, each team’s score can be added up.

If you’re using envelopes on a board, a fun way to keep score is with fake money. When you put the clue into the envelope, add the corresponding amount of fake bills, as well. When a person answers correctly, give their team the cash. At the end of the game, everyone can count up their money to see who won.

Decide How Players Will Buzz In

When a team has the answer, they’ll need to be the first to buzz in. You can download buzzer apps for phones. Or if you don’t want to risk people slapping their phones, you can buy a cute set of buzzers from Amazon.

Write a Clue For the Final Jeopardy Question

Once all the clues are gone, it’s time for Final Jeopardy! With a homemade Jeopardy game, it’s a bit more difficult to keep track of bets and who’s answering. If you’d like to keep it simple, skip the Final Jeopardy and just count up who has the highest score from the clues.

If you decide to do Final Jeopardy, you’ll need to hand out pens and paper for players to write their bets and their answers. Just like on the TV show, tell your players the Category, then let them place their bets.

Read the clue and wait for everyone to write an answer. Once they’re finished, they can hold up their cards. Your guests can add up their totals and write their final cash amount. The person with the most cash wins.

Playing Bridal Jeopardy at the Shower or Bachelorette

a person sitting and writing in a notebook

On the day of the shower or bachelorette party, set up the game board along with the other decorations. When it’s time to play, the host can introduce the game and the rules. Then - let the game begin!

Divide Into Teams

For the best gameplay, divide your shower guests into three teams. If you’ve got a big group, you can split into four. The easiest way to make teams is by grouping people who are already sitting together. If you have three tables - it’s super easy to make each table a team.

Give Each Team a Buzzer

Put the phone or buzzer in the center of each team table. Have a test run to make sure all the buzzers work.

The Game Host Reads the Rules

Choose one of your bridesmaids ahead of time to be the game host. They’ll read the rules, read the clues and keep the game on track. When it’s time to start playing, they can explain the rules, just to be sure everyone knows how to play:

  • Each team will roll a dice, the highest number goes first.

  • The first team will choose a category and a dollar value.

  • The Game Host will read out the clue.

  • The first team to buzz in gets a chance to answer.

  • If they answer correctly, they’ll get the dollar amount of the clue.

  • Remember: the answer needs to be in the form of a question.

  • If they answer incorrectly, the next team to buzz in gets a chance to answer.

  • Whoever answers correctly gets to choose the next category and dollar value.

  • Once all the clues are done, the team with the most cash wins!

The Game Assistant Keeps Score

There’s a lot to keep organized when you’re playing bridal Jeopardy. As well as a game host, choose a bridesmaid to help as a game assistant, during the game.

If the clues are in envelopes, the assistant can take them out and hand them to the host. If you’re using play money to keep score, the assistant can pass the cash out to the winners. Or they can keep score using an app, or a pen and paper.

Hand Out the Prizes

Once the game is done and all the totals are added up, you can reward the winning team with a fun prize. You’ll need to have one for each person on the team, so think about small, inexpensive gifts that everyone will like.

  • Scented candles.

  • Bath bombs.

  • Mini hand lotions.

  • Flavored lip balms.
