How Do You Serve Candy at Weddings?

  1. Decide where you’ll set up your wedding candy table.

  2. Figure out how much candy you’ll need.

  3. Choose containers for your wedding candy bar.

  4. Add signs to your wedding candy bar.

  5. Choose your wedding candy bar decorations.

  6. Buy your wedding candy.

  7. Ask someone to be in charge of the candy table.

Where to Put Your Wedding Candy Table

Decide where you’ll set up your wedding candy table. If you want people to take it on the way out, put the table close to the door. If you want people to snack on it during the night, put it near the dance floor.

How Much Candy Do You Need For a Wedding Candy Bar?

Figure out how much candy you’ll need, before you make your shopping list. If you’re buying in bulk, most candy experts recommend buying one quarter to a half pound of candy per person. A half pound of candy will be about one cup per person.

  • 50 Wedding Guests: 25 pounds of candy

  • 75 Wedding Guests: 38 pounds of candy

  • 100 Wedding Guests: 50 pounds of candy

  • 125 Wedding Guests: 63 pounds of candy

  • 150 Wedding Guests: 75 pounds of candy

Wedding Candy Bar Containers.

  • Choose containers for your wedding candy bar in a variety of shapes and sizes. This’ll help add interest to the table.

  • Use the same accent on each container to tie it all together. For example, you could use glass jars in all different sizes, then add the same ribbon and tag to each one.

  • If you start early, you can watch for sales and collect different types of containers. Check your local big box stores, dollar stores and thrift shops for glass dishes and bowls. You could even look for jars, pitchers or vases to hold your candy.

  • Use the smaller sizes for the more expensive candies, like personalized chocolates. Fill the biggest containers with the cheaper candies, like jelly beans or gummies.

  • Add some goodie bags for your guests to fill with treats. Remember how we calculated a cup of candy per person? To make sure your amounts work out, look for bags that’ll hold about a cup of candy each.

  • Remember to add some tiny scoops or tongs, for dishing out the candy.

Add Signs to Your Wedding Candy Bar

You can make or buy some cute signs for your wedding candy bar. If you’re looking for something simple, print out a sign and frame it, then set it out on the table.

If you’d like a bigger sign, you can have one printed and placed on an easel. Or order a wooden or acrylic candy bar sign. If you have space to fill, you can also add a small sign for each type of candy.

Choose Your Wedding Candy Bar Decorations

When you’re decorating your candy table, start with a table cloth and table runners to match the room decor. Then add flower arrangements, signs and knick knacks, or other decorative items that match your wedding theme.

Add height to some of the containers with cake pedestals, gift wrapped boxes or boxes covered with cloth. If it matches your theme, you could use small crates or books to set the candy containers on.

Buy Your Candy Bar Candy

Most candy can be bought well in advance. That means you can watch for sales and stock up when you see good prices.

Check the expiration dates and store your candy in a cool, dry spot. If you’re buying chocolate be extra careful to keep it in a cool place until your wedding day.

When you’re deciding what type of candy to buy, look for an assortment of sizes, shapes and textures, to add interest to the table. Depending on the size of your guest list, look for 7 to 10 different types of candy.

If you have wedding colors, the candy table is a great place to use them. You can add color and style to your wedding reception with a display of colorful candy.

Color Schemes For Wedding Candy Bar Candy

You can find candy in every color of the rainbow. If you’re having a modern or elegant wedding, stick with one color, or one color and an accent. If you’re having a semi formal or casual, consider adding two or more colors for a fun look:

  • One Color: Choose all the candy in one single color.

  • One Color, Plus an Accent: Buy candy in a single color, plus white, gold or silver as an accent.

  • One Color, Many Shades: Choose candy in the same color, but all different shades.

  • Two Colors: If you have two wedding colors, use them both in your candy color scheme.

  • Multi Colored: If you want a fun look for your candy bar, choose an assortment of classic candies in different colors.

Ask For Help With Your Candy Table

Ask someone to be charge of the candy table on the day of your wedding. If you’ve hired a caterer, they might be able to set up and take care of your candy buffet. If you’re doing DIY, ask a member of your bridal party, or a friend to take care of the candy bar for you.

Once you’ve bought all your supplies, set up your candy bar at home, as a trial run. Make a list and take pictures so the person will know how to set it up. Throughout the night, your candy person can refill the containers, and keep the bags and scoops tidy.

Rustic Wedding Candy Bar

If your wedding has a rustic or country theme, you can use it for your candy table, too. Choose containers like metal buckets or trays to fill with candies. Use wooden crates to add height to some of the candy containers. Add some wood sign holders and some florals or greenery to match your bouquets for the perfect rustic candy bar.

Elegant Wedding Candy Bar

For an elegant candy bar, choose glass containers in similar styles. Fill them with candy in your wedding color, or add an accent color of white, silver or gold. Add some flameless candles to light up the table. Set out an elegant tray with individually wrapped chocolates for the finishing touch.

Personalized Chocolates For Your Wedding Candy Bar

For a nice touch, fill one container with chocolates, personalized with your names and wedding date. Or for inexpensive chocolates, you can buy Hershey kisses, then add a personalized sticker to each one. You can find stickers in every style and color to match your candy buffet decor.
