Cheap Bachelorette Party Destinations: Best For Small Budgets

It can be tough to find cheap bachelorette party destinations, but if you’re on a budget, you can definitely find some that are less expensive. Start by figuring out how much you can spend.

For a destination bachelorette, each person usually pays their own way, including the bride. For a single night bachelorette party, the bridesmaids and maid of honor would split all the costs. But since destination bachelorettes are more expensive, the bride usually pays for her own flights and accommodations.

How Much Does a Destination Bachelorette Party Cost?

A destination bachelorette party can cost as much - or as little - as you want. The price depends on how far you need to travel, where you’ll be staying and what kind of activities you plan. Destinations further in distance will require more time and money to accomplish versus a local destination.

The best way to set the budget is to talk to the group and find out how much everyone can afford. That way you can plan an affordable bachelorette party, that most people will be able to attend.

How Do You Choose a Location For a Destination Bachelorette Party?

You can choose the location for the bachelorette based on the type of party the bride wants, along with the size of the budget. If your group can spend less than $500 each, you’ll need to choose a location close to home. If your group can spend up to $1,000 you’ll be able to choose a location that includes flights.

Destination Bachelorette Party Styles

Before you choose the location, you’ll need to decide on a style for the bachelorette. Find out what type of party the bride would like the most. Does she want a weekend in the city, going to museums and clubs? Or does she want to party at a beach resort?

Although it is important to consider what other bridal party members may want to do, a bachelorette party is centered around the bride’s impending wedding day. Therefore, the bride’s opinion is most important.

Bachelorette party ideas:

  • City break

  • Spa and relaxation

  • Night life

  • Tropical beaches

  • Art and museums

  • Wine tours and tasting

Close to Home Bachelorette Weekend

The cheapest bachelorette party destinations will be the closest to you. If you live within driving distance of a lake, nature area or national park, you could borrow or rent a cottage for the weekend. Or if you live near a major city, you could book an inexpensive apartment online. Then have a fun weekend shopping and seeing the sights.

Planning a Cheap City Break Bachelorette Party

The main costs for a city break bachelorette will be the flights and accommodations. Most cities have an off season, where you’ll be able to find cheaper flights and hotels.

For example, visiting Austin will be cheaper in December, January or February, because the weather is a bit cooler. Or visiting Miami in October, November or December could save you a lot of money.

Plan ahead for your meals. Eating at restaurants for every meal will absolutely kill your budget. If you’re booking a rental apartment, cooking some of your meals can save a lot of money. If you’re staying in a hotel, you can stock the mini fridge with yogurt and croissants for easy and cheap breakfasts.

To save even more, you can choose one activity as the main event, then round out the weekend with cheap or free activities. For example, plan a spa day or boat tour as the main event. Then fill the rest of the weekend with yoga, walking tours or picnics.

More ideas for cheap or free bachelorette party activities:

  • Ferry ride

  • Hiking trails

  • Walking tours

  • Ghost tours

  • Pub crawls

  • Beach day

  • Pool party at the hotel

  • Picnic in the park

  • Scavenger hunt

Planning a Cheap All Inclusive Resort Destination Bachelorette

Depending on the size of your budget, you might be able to swing a fun weekend in Cancun, Cabo or the Bahamas. Booking an all inclusive resort is the cheapest and easiest way to travel as a group.

When you check the prices for a resort, it might seem expensive at first. But it can be more cost effective than planning a rental, buying groceries and doing activities.

The great thing about booking a resort is that everything is included in one price. All your meals and drinks are included. Plus most resorts have clubs, shows and activities. Add in a beach day and you’ll have the perfect bachelorette party for one easy price.

All you’ll need to pay for is your flights, plus the hotel room. Some resort offers will even include free airport transfers, if you’re booking 3 or more nights.

Don’t Go Too Cheap

Whenever I look at resorts for vacation, I remember a friend that I used to work with. He and his wife had booked a vacation at an all inclusive resort and he was thrilled because it was only $635. In Canadian money - if you’re American, that’s less than $500. For an entire week, including the flight.

“Wow. Sounds great.”

When he came back he was a lot less happy. I asked him “How was your vacation?”

“There was a dead cat in the jacuzzi.”

We never spoke of his vacation again.

How to Find an Affordable Resort For a Bachelorette

Having said that, I’ve been to a lot of resorts that weren’t expensive at all, but still had a great time. As long as the rooms are clean and the food is good, you don’t need to spend a ton on the resort.

  • A reasonable price is $300 to $400 a night, for a double occupancy room. If you share rooms, it’ll cost $150 to $200 per person. Prices will vary, depending on the season. But you can usually find this price range in most of the popular spots, like Cancun, Punta Cana or Cabo San Lucas.

  • Read the most recent reviews. Resorts change every year, so make sure to check the dates on the reviews.

  • If you check Google reviews for a hotel, you can find tons of photos, uploaded by other travelers. If you check out these photos, you’ll be able to see what the rooms are like. And how the beach looks on an average day.

  • As well as checking photos, you can check prices from Expedia If you book your flight and hotel at the same time, you’ll often get a discount from the website.

Booking Cheap Flights For a Bachelorette Party

One of the biggest expenses will be flights to your destination bachelorette party. If you’re on a tight budget, you can choose the bachelorette location based on prices for flights.

Flights within the US are usually the cheapest. But, depending on the time of year, many airlines also offer inexpensive flights to popular destinations like Cancun from $181 per person, Bahamas from $274 per person and Punta Cana from $233 per person. Flight prices will depend on where you live and where you’re flying to. These prices are all round trip and are flying out of Orlando, FL.

If you live on the East Coast, check prices for flights to:

  • Miami

  • Fort Lauderdale

  • Key West

  • Charleston

  • Virginia Beach

  • New Orleans

  • Puerto Rico

  • Cancun, Mexico

  • Punta Cana, Dominican Republic

  • Nassau, Bahamas

If you live on the West Coast, check prices for flights to:

  • Los Angeles

  • San Francisco

  • Lake Tahoe

  • Las Vegas

  • Seattle

  • Sedona

  • Austin

  • Puerto Vallarta, Mexico

  • Cabo San Lucas, Mexico

Consider Booking a Cruise For Your Destination Bachelorette

If you can’t get a flight to the Caribbean, check flights to Fort Lauderdale or Miami. Then look at some cruise ships. Some of them offer amazing prices for 3 or 4 day cruises to the Bahamas for $349 per person or 4 night Mexico Cruise for $249 per person. You can find some weekend cruises for a few hundred dollars each including food and drinks.

Tips for Cruising on a Budget

  • Pay attention to the drink prices. The cruise usually includes non-alcoholic beverages, but you’ll have to pay extra for soft drinks and booze. Most cruise lines offer daily specials and happy hours. Or you can purchase a daily drink package, where you’ll pay a flat fee and all your drinks will be included.

  • Plan to share cabins. Each person can get their own cabin, but they’ll need to pay a single supplement. It’s a lot cheaper to pay for double occupancy and share the room.

  • Find the closest port to your hometown. The most popular ports to cruise from are Fort Lauderdale or Miami. But some cruise lines also offer departures from spots like Baltimore, or Charleston. If one of the ports is within driving distance, you could save money on your flights.

Tips For Saving Money on a Destination Bachelorette Party

  • Try to plan the party during the week. Weekends are the most expensive for flights and accommodations. If your group is able to get the time off work, you could save a bundle.

  • Don’t book it during a holiday weekend. It seems like a good idea, because people have time off work. But everyone else is thinking the same thing! Holiday weekends are the most expensive time to travel.

  • If you’re renting an entire house, yacht or other activity, invite enough people to fill it. If you’ve got more people, it will cost less per person. Just make sure there’s enough space for everyone.

  • Look for group discounts for your hotels and activities. Most tour operators, resorts and cruise ships will offer discounts to groups that include a certain number of guests.

Book an Overnight Staycation Bachelorette Party

If the budget’s too small to travel, book a local, overnight party instead. Find the nicest hotel that the group can afford and plan a fun night, there. Try to find a hotel with a roof top pool, great dining options or a full service spa. Or look for one that’s close to the clubs and plan a night out, with live music, dancing and drinks.

Remember to Have Fun!

Most brides understand that their friends have budgets, and are willing to be flexible. Even if you don’t have a lot to spend, you can still have a great time together. As long as the bride has fun, the destination bachelorette party will be a huge success.
