Flowers represent beauty and new life just like a bridal shower! Choosing a theme makes planning a bridal shower much easier. And there’s no more universal theme than florals!

Your theme will come alive in any season but works best in spring when nature is already blooming.

So whether you’re planning a shower for your favorite lady or you ARE the bride-to-be, here’s everything you need to know before you plan a flower-tastic garden bridal shower.

Selecting a Venue

Your event space can make or break your bridal shower, so you have to choose carefully. Floral themed showers look stunning set up in a garden or outdoor space.

If you are on a budget, host in a friend or family member’s yard or a public park. You'll be able to leverage the natural beauty of nature, which will save you big bucks on decor.

If you’re looking for a unique bridal shower venue, check out local tea rooms, garden centers, and greenhouses. You can even transform a cafe party room into a fantastic floral bridal shower.

Whichever type of space you choose, make sure it’s large enough for the bride’s guest list to sit comfortably. Make sure the space comes with enough seating and extra tables for food and gifts.

Selecting Floral-Themed Invitations

Invitations are important because they give guests the first look at your bridal shower. This is also where you’ll cement your color palette. Choose floral-themed invitations that contain the bride's favorite colors and flowers.

You can select a premade design or customize your own on a design site like Canva. If you’re DIYing invitations, you can get super creative by printing the invites on seed paper.

This handmade paper can be planted in warm weather to grow beautiful flowers. Embellishments like dried flowers are affordable ways to make an invitation feel more expensive.

Make sure whatever design you choose leaves enough room for all the important information, like location, time, and registry info.

Be sure to send your invitations out at least 6-8 weeks before the event so everyone can add the bridal shower to their calendar!

Creating a Customized Invitation Message

Your bridal shower invitation wording is nearly as important as the actual design itself. Your message will tell the guests everything they need to know. It should also catch their eye and connect with your floral theme.

Here’s a format you can follow to create a beautifully customized message for your floral-themed bridal shower invitations.

  1. Catchy phrase: Start your message with a fun, eye-catching saying that will give the guests a glimpse of your floral theme. “Love is in Bloom”, “Showered with Flowers”, and “Flowers and Friends” are some great ideas.

  2. Bride’s name: Next, state who the guest of honor is. Be sure to include her last name or at least last initial so the guests know exactly who the bride is.

  3. Event information: This is where you will list the venue name, address, and event start time. If there is other special information like parking directions, include them here!

  4. RSVP info: Let the guest know how to respond to the invite. This could be a phone number to call or text. Or you can create a Google Form so they can easily say whether or not they are coming. It’s also a great way to collect dietary needs and other important info without having to do much leg work.

  5. Registry information: Finally, list where the bride has created a registry or what her gift preferences are. You can also direct them to the wedding website if the information is there.

Floral Decor Ideas

Of course, a floral-themed bridal shower calls for an abundance of one thing: flowers! You can check this box in a variety of ways.

Design stunning floral centerpieces with silk flowers and lots of beautiful greenery. Or visit the green house and create table planters with live flowers.

This is a great way to achieve fresh florals on a budget. Plus, you can raffle them off at the end of the event! Sprinkle the guest tables with flower petals and flower-shaped table confetti.

Hang floral garlands from the walls or shrubbery if you’re hosting outside. If you’re rolling on a budget, paper flowers are actually quite easy to create.

Choose paper that matches your event colors and ask friends and family to pitch in! You can string these on twine for an easy garland or create full bouquets to place on tables.

You can use tissue paper or thicker origami paper in fun prints to add interest and depth. If your bride is a bookworm, you can use old book pages to really tailor the decor to her tastes!

Building a Flower-Inspired Food & Drink Menu

Garden parties are all about finger foods, delicate drinks, and bite sized desserts. So channel your theme into your food and drink menu by adding floral notes and tea-party vibes where you can.

If you’re planning a grazing table or want to use some fun charcuterie board ideas, use floral-themed toothpicks so guests can create their own plate. Arrange the sliced meats into flower shapes and sprinkle the table with dried flowers.

Edible flowers are adorable on cupcakes and confections. You can find these coated in sugar or as a dried sprinkle topping.

As for drinks, lavender syrup adds a lovely, swee floral note to coffees, teas, and lemonades on your drink bar. Create a signature cocktail that can easily be converted to a mocktail for guests who don’t drink alcohol.

Name it something floral or use the bride’s name for some fun wordplay. Choose floral plates and serving utensils to stay on theme.

Dress Code Ideas for the Bride & Guests

Ask guests to dress on theme to make your event even more magical. You can assign a specific color or simply ask guests to wear floral prints.

If you're hosting outside in the garden, you can set a tea party dress code and have guests wear their very best.

Going a bit more casual? Ask guests to wear a flower in their hair! You can have them create these at the event, wear the ones they have at home, or have a box of bulk flower accessories for guests to choose.

These can double as a party favor, which can save you money in your budget that you can put towards other special experiences for the bride.

The bride will need to stand out on her special day. Of course, she can wear a white dress! But adding  some white flowers in her hair or some delicate floral jewelry will set her apart as the guest of honor!

Flower Game & Activity Ideas

Floral-themed games and activities will keep the party going. It also gives your guests an opportunity to mingle and spend quality time together. Games should be centered around the bride and groom.

You can order fun “Who Has The Groom'' scratch cards for a quick and easy game. Bridal themed bingo, trivia, and Mad Libs are also great alternatives.

Crafts are big at bridal showers. Set up a make your own bouquet bar or flower crown station. You can also have them DIY aromatic floral perfume oils customized to their preferences.

Guests can take the time to put together a floral masterpiece that they can take home with them at the end of the party.

Photo Opportunities & Backgrounds

Photos are the best keepsake. Make your’s Insta worthy by setting up cute photo opps and backgrounds. A “Let Love Grow” garden wall will look great at an indoor or outdoor event.

You can create one by purchasing faux greenery panels and selecting in the bride’s favorite flowers. Or you can go with a floral-themed balloon arch that will elevate your photos.

Set out props, like flower crowns, bouquets, or cute bridal shower- themed signs. Invite guests to pose together and with the bride.

Later, you can create a slide show or photo collage to present to the bride so she can post the pictures on social media. That way, she won’t be distracted by trying to capture the event with her own phone.
